Who Will Inherit Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Estate?

Although she clung to life for six months through life support machines after being found unconscious in her bathtub, doctors never held much hope for Bobbi Kristina Brown’s recovery. Bobbi was Whitney Houston’s only daughter and at only 22 years of age, she passed away last Sunday. Following news of her unfortunate death, many readers of this blog may be wondering who will inherit the massive fortune of her mother.

According to Houston’s will, Bobbi was the sole heir to her great fortune. The assets were to be distributed to Bobbi in three installments. She was to receive 10 percent of the money at the age of 21, and at the age of 25, she was to receive the next 30 percent. At the age of 30, she would receive the remaining amount.

Since Bobbi was already 22 years old, she had received the first 10 percent of her mother’s money, but no more. Houston’s estate was estimated to be worth approximately $20 million.

Houston’s will had an additional stipulation in the case of Bobbi’s death before the distribution of the will, if Bobbi was without children, unmarried and without a will of her own. In that event, Houston’s remaining undispersed estate would go to Houston’s mother and her two brothers. Still, as is usual with sizable estates, it is likely that a legal battle is forthcoming. Other potential heirs of the Houston’s estate could include Bobby Brown, Bobbi’s father and Nick Gordon, Bobbi’s lover, whom she referred to as her “husband” on social media.

Estate issues definitely become more complicated when estates involve a large amount of money and no wills were ever created for the decedents. Still, in this case, only time will tell whether Houston’s will can prevail over potential challenges by Bobby and Nick. Surely, attorneys from both sides are already developing strategies to protect their clients’ rights in the matter.
