“As an Assistant State Attorney, I spent years in the courtroom prosecuting those who took financial advantage of senior citizens. While it was incredibly rewarding to see justice served, I always wished I could have done something to help prevent the exploitation in the first place. Now, as an elder law attorney, I help my clients strategize and plan the best way to protect their assets from theft and fraud. I also help victims and their families recover their assets, whether directly from the person who exploited them, or from the financial institutions that sometimes look the other way.”
Kathryn Lewis is a partner at Kitroser Lewis & Mighdoll, where she leads the firm’s litigation practice. With over fifteen years of courtroom experience, Kathryn represents families and fiduciaries across Palm Beach and Martin Counties in contested guardianship, probate and trust litigation.
Kathryn has dedicated her career, advocating for clients facing some of life’s most difficult legal challenges. She protects vulnerable adults from exploitation, resolves disputes over incapacity, and addresses breaches of fiduciary duty. Her work includes will and trust contests, guardianship proceedings, vulnerable adult injunctions, and removal actions involving guardians and personal representatives. Kathryn’s practice is defined by a rare blend of strategic precision and compassionate counsel, ensuring that clients are not only protected but also supported through the emotional and financial uncertainty that often accompanies litigation matters.
Kathryn began her legal career as an associate at a large law firm before dedicating seven years to public service as an Assistant State Attorney in Palm Beach County. During her tenure, she served in the White-Collar Crime Unit, where she prosecuted complex financial theft, fraud and elder exploitation cases.
A respected educator in the legal community, Kathryn frequently lectures fellow attorneys and judges in all aspects of guardianship law, particularly on the use of injunctions to prevent exploitation of vulnerable adults.
When away from the courtroom, Kathryn enjoys life in Jupiter with her child and dog. She spends her free time attending art classes and creating elaborate holiday decorations. She is an advocate for the LGBTQ+ equality and a proud Trekkie, bringing the same creativity and authenticity to her personal life that she brings to her practice.
